More good-byes...

 Tuesday, April 28, 2009

We had a great weekend full of lots of fun. It was hard to say good-bye to yet another set of visitors. Connor especially loves the extra attention. There was lots of time playing in the playroom with dinosaurs, animals, cars, trains, tools, and reading books with Papa & Grama.

Happy Birthday Dylan!

Dylan 1 month old.

Dylan with his binky.

Dylan sleeping in his car seat.

Dylan is very sad he didn't get ice cream!

Dylan is 1 month old today! How quickly the time flies. It seems like just yesterday we were driving down the freeway & out popped this adorable little guy!

We celebrated Dylan's birthday today with ice cream! We went to Fritz's for some yummy frozen custard after dinner. It was delicious. Connor loves that he gets his very own cone.

Dylan is growing and changing daily. Just today he has come to love his binky. And he is even grabbing it to hold it in his mouth. Very cute! As you can tell, he is getting quite chubby!

A Beautiful Day at the Zoo...

 Saturday, April 25, 2009

We all had a blast today at the ZOO. What fun! It turned out to be a beautiful day. Around 90 degrees and a slight breeze. Lots of people, but we all had fun walking around looking at all the animals, the train ride, and the carousel. Connor had fun showing Papa & Grama why we LOVE the Zoo so much. Hope you enjoy the many many pictures :)

Happy Friday!

 Friday, April 24, 2009

Well, I can't decide if this week has gone by fast or slow...whichever, I am excited it is friday! We have more visitors coming to visit today :) My dad & Gayle will be here this afternoon.

We have been watering the garden every morning this week, which has proved to be more challenging that I had anticipated. but at least it gets done. Connor & I usually end up soaking wet. But Connor has fun. Some of our seeds are really starting to grow!

So, during my late night feedings and watching tv to stay awake, I am forced to watch several informercials. It is a good thing I don't keep the phone & a credit card next to the bed with me...LOL. I have been wanting the topsy turvy tomato planter-where you grow tomatoes upside down. Chris wouldn't let me order it, so we made one. By we, I mean grandpa made one when he was here. Chris wouldn't have anything to do with it :) I hope it grows lots & lots of tomatoes just to prove him wrong? And I wonder why Connor is so stubborn-just can't figure out where he gets it from :)

Connor slammed his fingers in the door this morning, well actually the wind blew the garage door shut on them. Poor guy-his hand was stuck in the door. Boo Bunny came to the rescue, as did the M & M's. He carried both around while we finished water. Apparently, they helped, he hasn't seemed to even remember. See, chocolate helps everything!

Dylan is 4 weeks old today! Sorry, no pictures of him-he was in the baby bjorn all morning while we watered the garden and made muffins.

Happy Earth Day!

 Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Oh how sweet!
Dylan likes the toys on his bouncy seat!

Connor loves to draw lovely pictures!

So, I wanted to do all kinds of fun things to celebrate Earth Day, but didn't have time or energy! Although everyday should be Earth Day, at least we can concentrate on what we can do for a day and hopefully carry it out all year long. Here are a few of the things we try to do to lessen our impact on the enviornment:

*use reusable shopping bags
*buy organic, whenever possible
*cloth diapers
*we don't use any chemicals for cleaning, laundry, etc.
*we compost
*cloth napkins
*dry clothes outside in sun, when weather is nice
*open blinds, windows-try and turn lights off when we can
*only drive one car
*pay all bills online
*make most meals from scratch (less packaging)
*recycle
*use the library
*grow a garden
*buy in bulk
*starting a produce co-op
*buy local, when available
*CFL lighbulbs
*LED Christmas lights
*stainless steel water bottles
There is so much more we can do & we will continue to do what we can.

Amazing...

 Tuesday, April 21, 2009

For about 15, maybe 20 minutes yesterday both Connor & Dylan were asleep at the same time, both in their room-Connor is his bed, Dylan in his crib! That is the most we have used their room. Chris happened to call in those few minutes I had to myself, he asked me if I took a picture? My response, "Are you Nuts? I am not going to disturb either one of them." So, sorry no pictures, just a glimmer of hope in my mind that it *may* happen again. Maybe sooner than later???

It has been a long few days. Connor has some tummy bug that is still lingering. And to make matters worse, I wasn't feeling very good yesterday, but today is better although I have no appetite-which means there is something wrong with me! LOL, I can always eat. And Dylan was a little cranky last night, he wanted to eat (more like snack) about every 30 minutes, so he did. I am such a push over!

Laundry, Laundry, and more Laundry! Between Dylan going through several out-fits a day, Connor being sick, and cloth diapers...I have never done SO MUCH laundry in such a short period of time. Oh my! It isn't the laundry that bothers me so much, it is folding it all and putting it away! Such a chore, especially with a very 'helpful' Connor. Yesterday, we were folding the boys clothes and Connor took all the clothes that had dinasours on them and put them on his bed, wouldn't let me touch them! And all the clothes I had folded, he was unfolding them looking for more dinasours. At least he was cute! And to make matter worse, the clothes still aren't put away. Go figure!

What a Rough Life...

 Friday, April 17, 2009

These adorable boys have it so rough...we went for a nice long walk & they both went to sleep. What a peaceful walk it was for me-could have been the quite, the sunshine, the fresh air, or the 65 degree weather.. Whatever it was, it was nice! No complaints here! In fact, I even managed to get the stroller inside through the front door so I could let them sleep :)

All good things must come to an end...

 Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Well, Grandpa & Grandma left yesterday...it was wonderful to have them here for three weeks! They made it here just in time...they were here 1 full day, then Dylan decided to make his appearance. Good timing! Connor had a blast playing with them. He would take them by the hand and sit them in the playroom and they would play for hours with animals, trains, cars, coloring, puzzles, legos, and read lots of books! Connor enjoyed all the extra attention & of course being spoiled. Chris & I enjoyed being spoiled too :) Granpa did lots of yardwork & cleaning, while Grandma did lots of laundry & sewing. And of course all the Starbucks & yummy food-such a treat!

It was great not to have to do dished, cook, bathtime, and clean. And we were able to get lots done around the house...garden, lawn mowed, trees trimed, yard weeded, basement cleaned up (I still have some work to do on it), plus lots more. I think Connor kept Grandpa & Grandma busy! We really enjoyed all their help & being able to celebrate Easter with them.

However, the good news is that I have survived my first full day & a half with both kiddos at home by myself. I would say it is a success...I have even managed to get a few things done :) I have done a couple loads of laundry, made dinner last night, showered today (amazing), made chocolate chip banana muffins for breakfast this morning, an omlet with ham, cheese, and pineapple yesterday morning, went for a walk both days, although yesterday was much too cold for a walk. Despite Connor hitting Dylan, it has been a success. Connor is testing me again to see what he can get away with. Unfortunately, Dylan has to suffer. But I told Dylan, "It will either last a couple of days or the rest of your life...Sorry Buddy!" Life is such!

Happy Easter! We were hoping for nice weather today (it was really nice out yesterday). We weren't so lucky today, but at least we have no rain, just chilly. We were able to take a few pictures this morning, then did our Easter Egg Hunt this afternoon-will post pictures of that later. Connor had fun finding the eggs, but took awhile to warm up to the idea.
We are just getting ready to eat our Easter dinner of ham, potatoes, carrots, veggies, rolls, and cheesecake for dessert. YUM!
Oh yes & Chris' did figure out a way to save my pictures, so I am very happy!!!!
