Girls Night Out

 Tuesday, August 10, 2010

I was SO very fortunate to meet up for dinner and drinks at Joey's on Lake Union for dinner & drinks with 4 amazing ladies.  They are all friends from college (Go Cougs!) and four of us were sorority sisters (KKG!).  It was so fun and amazing that everyone was available.  How fun! A few drinks, sitting on the patio, great view, amazing company, could have sat there all night...oh wait, we did.  It sure made for a late night, but it was SO worth it.

Beautiful girls.  We laughed all night long.

And this was the view after the sun had set.  Priceless.

This were a couple of picture I took when I first got there...
Love the water, Space Needle, and the boats.

My newest want...

 Friday, August 6, 2010

This little machine does everything from vinyl lettering to heat transfers to simple shape and animal cut-outs to rhinestones.  The best part is NO cartridges like the other cutters.  You just download what you want (pay for what you use), hook it up to your computer and CREATE.  Genius!!!  I just love all the possibilities...wall art, decorating jars, Halloween decor (since that is the next holiday), birthday cards, personalized t-shirts for the boys, the possibilities are endless....

Just look at that cute 'Big Brother/Little Brother" clip art...
And I have seen lots of cool dinosaurs too.

A lot of my favorite blogs have been doing some super cute projects using their Silhouette Cutter...

Here are just two of them that have done fun posts about projects recently:

Yes, I have A LOT of wants lately.  Like new lenses, new counters, leaf blower, a vacation to a beach to relax, and this cool crafty cutter.  I know, I am weird.

Love Seattle!

 Thursday, August 5, 2010

We headed to Seattle to have a little fun.  Needless to say, it was a bit rainy and we had to pull out our sweatshirts (no complaints here, I was completely fine with being a bit chilly).  We met up with our good friend, Lindsey at the Cougar Connection store to stock up on some new Coug gear, then headed to lunch.  It was great.  We then decided to take theMonorail  to the Space Needle.

I will always love the Space Needle.  I wasn't brave enough (and I was too cheap too) to take the boys up there, but someday we will go, especially since Chris has never been up in it.  It is on the to-do list.

Love downtown Seattle.  I spent a summer commuting downtown from Bellevue (luckily, only on Fridays) and it was fun to see all the interesting people and all the tall buildings again.

Another day we took the ferry on the way back from Port Angeles to Seattle.  The ferry was a first for both the boys.  However, they were both fast asleep when we drive onto the ferry.  Of course, we had to wake them up so they could see what a ferry was.
They liked being inside and looking  through the windows.

Too bad it was overcast/hazy, but the views were still amazing...

Perhaps my favorite thing about downtown is Pike Place.  It is amazing.

I had a little fun with the camera, big surprise, huh?

I love all the flowers (Connor even picked some out to take to Aunt Amy).

And the Fish Market .  Probably the most exciting place at Pike Place.  Not the best pictures, but that is because the fish was flying directly at us and he caught it right above Connor's head! Of course, the wimp that I am, I moved so I didn't get any yucky fish juice on me and the camera, but I sacrificed a good picture.  Oh well.  You can get the idea from the extremely blurry picture ;-)
Yes, they really do throw the fish!  The guy even ask Connor if he wanted to touch it, Connor said, "No, Yuck."

And they have fun doing it.  Their books & videos are awesome.  If y'all are ever bored ;-)

Of course, we had to get coffee from The Original Startbucks, where all that greatness started...
Dylan was sleeping on my back while Connor & I were enjoying our delicious drinks.  Cheers!

And lastly, here is a great picture that has both Stadiums (Seahawks & Mariners), Mount Ranier, city buildings, and the water.

I truly love Seattle.  There are so many fun things to do and places to go.  And the views are amazing!

A Little Fish...

Here is a video of Connor jumping into the pool with NO floaties on, just holding on to the pool noodle.  He will even attempt to swim by himself to get the pool noodle.  He is doing such a great job in the pool this summer.  We are so very proud!

Palm Springs...

 Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Yes, this is where I grew up...Yakima.  The Palm Springs of Washington.  Ha. Gotta love it!

Brianna & I.  We have been best friends since 6th grade.  We got to go out a few nights for drinks.

Spending time with Aunt Kylee & Justin.  They all had fun together.

The dump truck with Grandpa & Grandma Brulotte (which Connor has started calling Meme since he came to the conclusion that he has too many Grandmas).  Funny kid.

I got to play with my new lens....

I bought the lens on the way to Yakima.  Best purchase ever.  I am in love.

We went to the softball fields (where I played softball about 12 years ago!) to watch Kylee practice.  The boys got to play on the swings & with the softballs...

Swinging so high!

These boys have the silliest & most serious facial expressions.

One night this is what the sky looked liked.  It was beautiful...

Then, there are the hops.  Connor calls them beer plants.  And wants to grow a BIG garden like that.  Chris is all for it.  Go figure.

Great time in Yakima.  Lots of time spent with family...

Back to Reality...

 Monday, August 2, 2010

I am back from a wonderful vacation.  We went back to Washington State for 20 days!  Connor was just under a year old the last time we were back to visit family, which was over 2.5 years ago.  Yikes.  We were due for a trip.  And we packed so many things into this trip, we had a blast!

Here are some highlights (and a few low points too):
-We logged nearly 2,000 miles traveling from house to house (4 different ones to be exact).
-I have 1,515 pictures loaded on the computer to go through from the trip.
-Got a new lens (50mm) while in Seattle.  So excited.
-I forgot just how beautiful (and green) Washington is.
-Got to spend some great quality time with all our wonderful family.
-Had lots of play dates with cousins & friends.
-I got my baby fix by getting to cuddle with 3 newborns.  Woohoo!
-Saw lots of friends that I graduated high school with 10 years ago!
-We discovered Connor has still not grown out of car sickness.
-We also discovered that Dylan now has car sickness.
-Met lots of friends for drinks.
-I did not do dishes for 20 days ;-)
-Enjoyed the amazing 55 degree mornings.  Amazing.
-Had an great dinner & drinks in Seattle with 4 of my favorite girls from college!
-Did not work-out, run, or do anything active for 20 days.  (Actually, still counting...)
-Had a lot of Starbucks.  A lot.  Yum.
-Got to eat lots of seafood.
-I did not cook a meal for 20 days!!!
-Had to endure the dreaded traffic of Seattle.
-I ate A LOT of super delicious food.  And gained about 20 lbs.
-Flew back to Dallas with both boys all by myself.  And actually enjoyed it.

Those are just a few of the pictures that caught my eye as I scanned through them quickly.  The mountains & all the water are just beautiful!!!  There will be many more pictures as I get me to go through & post some of the fabulous things we did & people we saw.

Almost 28.

Since I will be 28 (yikes!) on Friday, my family had cake & icecream for me last night. Which was great, but Connor's reaction was priceless. After they sang Happy Birthday, Connor had tears rolling down his cheeks and was really sad. I asked him what was wrong, his response, "I don't get a birthday, I haven't had one, and I don't get a birthday" as he was trying to hold his tears back. So, we sang him Happy Birthday and he was fine. Poor guy. It was pretty funny though.

The Beach

 Monday, July 19, 2010

The boys enjoyed their very first trip to the beach last week. We found a few shells, some sand dollars, and got super dirty. The weather was perfect and we had a blast. The cousins had fun playing together.
