Fun Weekend!

 Monday, April 12, 2010

We had a wonderful weekend.  Chris worked on Saturday, so the boys & I decided to go check out a Farmer's Market.  We got some more herb plants, some yummy veggies, and had a great dessert for breakfast.  It was a great start to the weekend.

Then, Sunday we took a walk to Starbucks and enjoyed our coffee and the nice weather.  Then that afternoon headed to the Rangers vs. Mariner's baseball game.  It was both Connor & Dylan's first M's game.  So fun.

Again, I just uploaded 480 pictures from this weekend, so it may take awhile to get through them.  I am officially addicted to taking pictures.  And Chris has had a lot of homework to do so he has taken over the computer.  Will post pictures and fun stories when I can.

This week will be filled with gardening, spring cleaning, going through lots & lots of pictures, and starting my new running work-outs.  Oh, and still battling sinus/allergy issues.  Wish me luck!

Weekend

 Monday, March 29, 2010

We had a fabulous weekend.  The weather was nice (although a bit windy).  It was a great weekend celebrating Dylan's 1st birthday.  So, really the weekend started on Friday celebrating Dylan's (actual) birthday.  Then, we had his birthday party on Saturday afternoon with a few friends.  It was so much fun and both boys had a blast playing with the other kids.  But before the party, we went to an Easter Egg Hunt, which was a lot of fun for the boys.  Besides the egg hunt, Connor got to bounce in a bounce house, plant a flower for me, and golf for prizes.  There are a lot of people there, but it was fun.  Then, Sunday we got up and headed to the Dallas Arboretum where they had the Dallas Blooms, which was all the beautiful tulips and other spring bulbs.  It was just amazing!  I loved looking at all the beautiful flowers, there were so many.  I had such a great time taking photos of the flowers.  However, I had some serious lens envy with all the other photographers there.  Someday.  But most importantly, I had a wonderful time with my 3 favorite boys.  It was such a wonderful weekend.

(Un) fortunately, I took about 600 pictures over the course of 3 days, so needless to say, it will take me some time to go through all the pictures.  I will post them as I sort through them all.

What a fun-filled weekend.

 Sunday, March 14, 2010

We spent all weekend outside doing yardwork.  This has been the first weekend we have been able to work on our yard since we moved in 6 months ago.  Yes, it has been 6 months.  Holy Cow!  Really?  6 months.  Wow.  That went by quick.  I hope I am able to get more done in the next 6 months than I did in the last 6 months.  Wishful thinking, huh?

We got so much done outside this weeeknd, but have so much more to do.  Lawn got a good weeding.  Boy oh boy did it ever need it.  And was that ever a lot of work.  I only got to the front and filled up a giant trash can full of weeds.  It is a work in progress, but looks much better.

So many weeds.  So little time.

Got the lawn mowed.  And it didn't take much time at all.  The perk of having a small yard.  Yah!  Much less time than at our old house.  That I am thankful for.  And I trimmed the bushes in the front yard and the trees.  I tend to get a little crazy with the scissors and whack a little too much off.  I did this while Chris went to Home Depot.  This was his response when he seen my handy work...

No really, he said I did a good job.  Even I was impressed that I didn't hack them down too far.  He warned me.  And I knew better this time around.

We got the soil mixed for our garden boxes.  We are doing Square Foot Gardening again this year.  Last year was our trial year, this year we are for real.  I am determined to grow lots of wonderful veggies this year.  The soil mix is a lot f work itself to get it all mixed properly to put in the boxes.

Here are a few of the bags to make the special mix of assorted organic composts, peat moss, and vermiculite.

 Connor working hard.

Chris working harder.

Jenn working hardest.

That is hard to believe with the amount of pictures I took this weekend, huh?  I can't fool anybody.  But I can sure try.  My fingers hurt.  My feet hurt.  My back hurts.  My body aches.  I can't figure out why anybody would need a gym membership when there is yard work to be done.  There is no better work-out.

It was so nice out today, we got out the water table.  Connor loves it and it had been a life saver for me in entertaining Connor for hours and hours in the past.  He was just excited as ever to play with it.  And it has a new fan: Dylan.  He was thrilled to be able to splash and play with dinos and sharks in the water.

Dylan was so happy to be outside.

His hair may get even crazier outside.

Dylan has the most serious facial expressions.

But sometimes he just lets loose.

But quickly turns serious again.

Get him on the slide and he is all smiles.

 So much fun.

He is loving life.

Fun Weekend

 Tuesday, February 2, 2010

We had a wonderful weekend.  My Dad & Gayle came to visit for a long weekend.  Although the weather was cold and rainy, we all had fun.

Lots of drawing...

We celebrated Connor's birthday (again).  So, of course we had to have cake...

Connor loved singing Happy Birthday to himself...

And blowing out the candles...

And he got a bike out of the whole birthday thing...

Mama tried explaining how to pedal forwards...

Papa helped him...

But then, Daddy just couldn't resist...

And now Dylan wants his own bike...

Connor is pretty cute in his bike helmet...

There was a lot of playing in the playroom as well...

Then, there is Mr. Connor who thinks he is talented enough to read a book and watch a video on the iPod at the same time...

And Connor had to show Papa the donut shop, which just happens to be next door to Starbucks =)

And Dylan even learned to drink from a bottle...

(He reminds me of a goat that you feed at a petting zoo)

Dylan likes to be Mr. Independent when eating...

The boys had a blast playing with Papa & Grandma Gayle. We all had such a wonderful weekend.  It went by way too fast!

9 More Days!

 Saturday, March 21, 2009

And the countdown is finally in the single digits....I can't believe it! Now, I think back and can't figure out where the time has gone?!? We are super excited to meet this little guy, but I think Chris & I are both a bit nervous now. Will we remember what to do with a newborn? Are we ready (more so me) for ALL the middle of the night feedings? Diaper changes? And everything else? Oh my!

Well, although the due date is the 30th, my hope would be next Wednesday or Thursday. Just not this weekend, we have a lot left to do...43 things to be exact, according to the weekend to-do list! YIKES! Sounds like a busy weekend. I have Chris working hard on the list as we speak...he is upstairs resealing the shower, he headed upstairs a bit ago with a beer. And the good news is, I hear him working hard! I cleaned out the playroom today, got all the windows cleaned downstairs. Our big projects are upstairs this weekend-all the bedrooms, the office, bathrooms, and my major goal is to get the boys room completed and take some pictures! So, hopefully by Sunday, I will have some pictures posted of it-I think it will be super cute, Connor loves it so far.

Oh ya, and I think I should problably pack my bag for the hospital...just in case.

Productive Weekend!

 Sunday, March 15, 2009

Well, this weekend proved to be fairly productive! Chris got a lot done, anyways. He fixed the car-just some maintence on it, unlike last weekend when we thought something major was wrong with it. He is determined to keep this one running well and looking pretty so he can't justify buying another one. (Me, on the other hand, I am slowly breaking him down). I caught him actually cleaning everything under the hood...I think he caught the "nesting" bug! He replaced all the smoke detectors, put together some baby stuff and a stool, replaced the light switches in the boys' room, put up the mirror & baby monitor, and worked on the compost (it needs some love), among some other random things.

Me, on the other hand, only got some random things done-I got the laundry room all cleaned and organized, cleaned the oven (it only took me a full day to do), cleaned out the fridge, coat closet, sterlized all the baby stuff and re-arranged a cupboard to put it all in. Not all these things were on my list, but apparently I find it important to have a clean oven, laundry room, and coat closet....at least I realize I am being a little wierd and obsessive! Even though our house looks like a tornado has gone through it...my fridge and oven are spotless as is my laundry room....for the moment anyways! I didn't get to even think about any of my craft or sewing projects-so, this baby has to wait a little longer!

Tomorrow is supposed to be 67 and Tuesday should be 74! WOW! If so, we will spend a lot of time outside-maybe I will be able to get my garden plans underway and even some seeds started...that is the plan anyways! Tomorrow I got back to the doctor, the contractions haven't started yet tonight-yippeee! Seems like this kiddo is cooperating.

An end to the fun with Daddy!

 Sunday, January 4, 2009

Well, I guess all the fun has to end sometime. Today is Chris' last day at home with us, as tomorrow he has to go back to work :( I am not quite sure if Chris is looking forward to it or not. But I am pretty sure he didn't get sick of staying home, which is usually the case on long weekends & this was 13 days straight. We are very thankful to have him home, but also very thankful he has a job to go back to :) Connor LOVED having him home to play & so did I. Although we didn't get as much done around the house as we had hoped, it was still wonderful. Today we are scrambling to get the rest of the Christmas decorations back to the basement for storage and the house back to 'normal' again.

I finally found some fabric to make a quilt for Connor's bed, so we will see when I find the time to make it-I am excited to start it. We did get our new camera & so far we love it. It is so easy to use, but has tons of settings to play around with. However, we are still waiting for our new memory card, so we can only take a few pictures at a time, which is hard to do. We made it to church this morning and Connor was really good-he generally has a hard time sitting still for an hour striaght, but we have learned to pack special treats, books, and an activity (today it was stickers). This proved very useful today, as Chris was quite worried about having to peel all the stickers off the pews after church, but all made it to the sticker book :) And we got Starbucks after church, but I was sad to hear they were all out of Egg Nog, but Chris still got his Peppermint Mocha.
However, I am very excited about all the new shows that start this week...Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Bachelor, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice. So exciting! Hopefully all that excitment will get me through a rough day tomorrow with Connor-he is not going to be happy that daddy is not here to play.
