All about dinosaurs...

 Wednesday, September 30, 2009

How on earth did I fall into this Dinosaur trap??? I am now searching for anything & everything dinosaur. Connor is literally obsessed with dinosaurs. And for some reason, they are every where--on tv (Dinosaur Train), the bookstores are filled with dinosaur books, so many shirts with dinosaurs, stickers, tatooes, the list goes on. Everytime I go shopping, I come back to the hotel with new dino books, dino puzzles, dino games, dino sandwhich cutters, etc. Oh my!!!

So, I have started to look for dinosaur decor for his new room in hopes he will enjoy it so much he will sleep in there all night, by himself, perhaps until 7am and not feel the need to come all the way downstairs to our bed when we finally move into our new house. My fingers are crossed and I am on the hunt. Who knew there was so much dinosaur room decor out there? And some is SO incredible expensive, some just plain ugly, and some just not to my liking. I am pretty sure Connor would be happy with anything dinosaur, so the trick is to find something I like. Ha!

Dino sheets

Dino bedding

Dino decor

The colorful dino sheets are super cute, but way too expensive for just sheets (yes, I am still cheap), I like the quilted comforter from PB, but don't care for the red and blue plaid, and kind of like the last one-actually I think I just like it because it is more neutral colors.

Anyone seen anything better??? Please let me know!

Hotel Living...

 Monday, September 28, 2009

Well, it has been exactly 1 week since we checked into our first hotel & we have 4 more weeks to go! Oh my!

I do enjoy watching tv more than I normally would, however I am such a sucker for the infomercials & all the home shopping programs. Chris threatens to hide the credit cards whenever I stop on one of the channels.

These have made the top of my list:

cricut expression

juicer

I am sure I will have lots more to put on my wish list.

Happy 6 months Dylan!

 Saturday, September 26, 2009

Dylan is 6 months old today!

We got some ice cream cupcakes from Coldstone to celebrate Dylan's 6 month birthday!

Dylan enjoyed the whip cream from the yummy cupcakes. He wanted more.

How cute!

Trying so hard to crawl, he is almost there.

CHHHHEEEEESSSSEEEEE!!!!

I can't believe our little Dylan is already 6 months old. Half a year has gone by. WOW! A lot has happened since he was born. He went on his first plane, had his first long road trip and has now officially moved to Dallas. What a busy life he has had so far.

Dylan still remains our calm, content, and very happy baby boy. He loves to get other people's attention and waits for a smile back. We are going to have our hands full with this one. He has not refused a food yet. He enjoys all the basic baby foods, along with real foods lately such as french fries, bread, bagels, biscuits, chicken nuggets, pasta, whip cream, cookies, granola bars, etc. He loves it all. He is moving around backwards, sideways, and a little forwards. He is ready to crawl, but for some reason can't master it. Boy will I be in trouble when he can really crawl-he already LOVES to get into all Big Brother's toys, which Connor does not appreciate. He still does not have any teeth, so we will see when those decide to pop through.

Happy 6 months Dylan. We love you very much.

Hello Dallas!

 Friday, September 25, 2009

We made it to Dallas. After getting up super early and leaving St. Louis at 4am on Thursday, we made it to Oklahoma City by lunch time. just in time to have lunch at one of the local breweries. The drive took us just about 8 hours. We were able to hang out at the hotel, walk around the downtown area where we fed the ducks, watched the boats on the canal, and saw all the animals and big fish tank at Bass Pro Shops. Then we headed to Toby Keith's restaurant, which is fun and has really good food. Then, we went swimming. We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Bricktown Oklahoma City. Other than some weird plumbing, I would highly recommend the hotel, as the location was great and the pool was a kids' paradise.

After dinner, we decided to take the boat ride tour on the canal all around the downtown area. I love Oklahoma City-it is such a cool place. Then, today we slept in a bit (7am) and had breakfast, made another trip to the pool, then walked around downtown a little more. Finally, we headed to Earl's Rib Palace before getting on the road again. They had a great BBQ pulled pork sandwich...YUM! I think we may be taking a weekend trip back to Oklahoma City in the future-we had a lot of fun there.

We made it to Dallas by dinner time, then went to a local Mexican restaurant called The Blue Goose, which had good chips & salsa and the food was pretty good. We checked into our hotel, aka our new home for the next 24 days! Yikes. Luckily, it is a two bedroom suite with a kitchen. And it does have 3 flat screen TV's. So that is a plus. And it looks like there are a few Starbucks within walking distance along with some decent shopping...I think Chris is a little worried about that. Maybe we won't go completely crazy in a hotel for 3+ weeks, but only time will tell.

Fun times around town...

And fun times at the hotel pool...

Connor getting ready to go down the slide in the pool.

And down the slide into the water he goes! What an awesome pool.

This weekend we hope to just relax a bit and do a lot of playing. It will hopefully be a good break from all the craziness of this past week.

Well, we are finally all moved out of our house. It was a little hard to know that we will never see it again. We will miss so many things about it, but we have created many wonderful memories in that house. It was where we brought home both Connor & Dylan, it was our first home and the only home either boys have ever known. We spent several holidays there, birthdays, hosted baby showers, Bunco nights, BBQ's. and lots of family (and friends) visitors in that house. We were so excited to have found a wonderful home in a such a great neighborhood where we met some amazing people.

We had one last get-together with all our wonderful friends, people from work, neighbors, and fellow Cougs . We have been so blessed to meet such wonderful friends whom we have spent holidays with and have truly been our family.

This weekend we were driving on Hwy 40 and went past where Dylan was born (on the side of the road, of course) and the hospital where Connor was born, which is where we spent the first nights with the boys-it was a little sad knowing that we wouldn't be able to share that with them on a regular basis. But on the other hand, we are very excited to start our new adventure.

Good-bye St. Louis---we will miss you!
