SNOW, really?!?

 Sunday, March 21, 2010

Last weekend we were outside all weekend doing yardwork and getting the garden planted.  The boys were in their swim suits playing in the water.

Wednesday we were at the park enjoying the nice weather.

Thursday the boys were in swim suits playing in the water again.

Friday we went to the zoo to enjoy the 75 degree weather.  (Picture to come soon).  And after the boys went to bed Friday evening, Chris & I sat outside until about 9pm and enjoyed the nice warm evening while drinking some wine.

Saturday it started to snow.  And this is what we woke up to this morning....

Snow on our patio table and chairs.

Snow on the slide.  Brrrr.

A good 3 inches on the sidewalk in front of our house.

Just over 4 inches on top of the patio table in the back yard.

In the front yard, some places had 6.5 inches (because of the wind, there were some small drifts)

Poor flowers in the hanging baskets.  Maybe they will survive.

The garden looks non-existent.  We did get some fabric to cover it in case of a freeze, but we were not expecting snow and certainly this much snow.  We are hoping that the veggies survive this crazy weather.

It is still snowing right now.  It is supposed to keep snowing until noon today.  Glad I made sure we went to Nordy's this week to get new sandals for the boys.  But the forecast for tomorrow is 65 degrees.  Gotta love Texas!

It is a winter wonderland in Texas!

This is what we woke up to...

Snow this morning at 5am.  So excited.
Then still snowing at 10am.  So had to take some more pictures.

Then, we made some delicious snickerdoodles and then went to play in the snow...

This was Connor bringing the newspaper to one of the neighbors.
I brought Dylan inside first and he made a mad dash to the door, he wanted back outside.

Just as Dylan was coming out the door, Connor was bringing Dylan some snow to play with.

They had so much fun.  I was expecting it to be a disaster, but they both loved it.  Oh how I love the snow too.  It is just so pretty.   But eventually, I talked (or bribed rather) them inside with some hot cocoa and snickerdoodles.

Oh what a fun snow day.  It is completely worth the extra laundry and all the water tracked through the house.  It is still snowing and has now been snowing for almost 12 hours.  Impressive for North Texas.  We have a good 2.5 inches or so and are likely to get a bit more.  All morning Connor has been saying, "Oh no, it is Christmas again, not Valentine's Day anymore."

So we made a snowman....

"Just Kidding" says Connor!

We didn't get that much snow.  But if we were to build a snowman, it would have looked like that ( I found the image at A Frayed Knot).   We didn't expect to get any snow here in Texas, so it was a nice surprise to really bring on the holiday season.  Merry Christmas!!!  There is still hope for a white Christmas here...

Snow! Snow! Snow!

 Tuesday, January 27, 2009

We finally have some snow. It isn't much, but I will take what we can get. There might be a couple of inches now, but that may be a little generous. Connor & I went out and played in it this afternoon. Although it took us about half an hour just to get all bundled up to go outside, it was well worth it. He had so much fun, I thought he would hate it. He just ran around and loved to watch his feet move the snow. He did not want to come inside, but it was cold out and our noses were cold, so we didn't stay out too long. I am SO excited we got snow! And it is still snowing a bit, so hopefully we will have even more by morning. So fun! Although, we have a busy day of doctor visits tomorrow, I still want more snow.

So, Connor has recently started hiding his toys all around the house. He thinks this is pretty entertaining, me on the other hand...I am not so sure. I open the pantry and there are about 5 cars all lined up on the bottom shelf, later I open a drawer and there is an elephant. Then I found a couple of blocks and balls in the cupboard. When I ask him about them, he laughs and thinks it is hilarious...what a crazy kid! I don't know where he gets it from...
