Horse Races!!

We went to the horse races on Saturday at Lonestar Park.  Despite it being 100 degrees, it was a lot of fun, we made it through almost half of the races.  

We would go outside for a short time, then head back inside to the nice and cool air conditioning...thank goodness for good AC.

This was the first race we bet on, the horse won!  We walked away with a BIG payout of $.50, haha!  And the horse got first place, apparently I gotta figure out how this betting works!!

Woohoo!  Winner!!

 Connor was most excited about the hotdog, cookie, and popcorn!

 Dylan, on the other hand, was very excited at the sight of the horses racing around the track!  He now keeps telling us, "I ride big horse".  So, gotta find this kid a horse to ride...

Summertime

We have spent some time at the pool trying to stay cool and to wear out a certain little two-year-old and a certain little four-year-old :-)

McQueen & Mater were here!

McQueen & Mater were in Dallas a couple weeks ago on their way LA for the Cars 2 movie coming out later this month.  It was pretty cool to see, luckily the boys were fine just looking and taking a couple pictures.  I was way too impatient to stand in line with the thousands of people just to get an close up picture.  And it was hot too, which you will hear me complain about this lovely heat for the next few months.  Sorry, just get used to the complaining---pretty sure I will not get used to 100 degrees :)

Need to feel better...

Fish Tank

Well, we finally gave in and got the fish tank!  Connor earned his fish tank by sleeping in his bed for an entire month.  Yup, bribery works.  And he is still sleeping in his bed every night.  Dylan, on the other hand, not so much.  I think Dylan is holding our for a puppy, which will never happen!

Here are some pictures.  My apologies, all the pictures were taken with the phone, so not the best quality.  And the fish swim too fast to get more pictures of them.

As you can see, it is complete with not just one dinosaur, but two.  Of course.  And a shark wearing red sunglasses.  Gotta love it.

We have 10 fish.  The fun part for the boys was naming them:

Garden Update

 We planted a new plant (I think it was a sunflower that Connor planted & brought home from school) in place of our cantelope plant didn't quite make it.  BUT good news is almost everything else looks pretty good.  Here is the proof...

Storms

We have had some big storms here lately.  Lots of rain, thunder, lightening, wind, hail, tornado warnings.  Fun times.  Really Really Really makes me wish we had a basement.

But we make the best of it.  And after the storm passes, we go play in the puddles...

My disclaimer...I don't think I would be able to let the boys run, jump, play, and lay in the water if I wasn't taking pictures of the action.  It is a great distraction, lol.
